Epoxy coating services came into limelight in the early 1950s. In recent times, epoxy painted floors have become tremendously popular amongst property owners. It is a more preferred coating option for both residential and commercial purposes.

Home DIYers and some ill qualified painters used these words interchangeably. There is a vast difference between epoxy paint and epoxy coating. One of the key differences is the quality and durability of the materials. Note that epoxy coating services require specific skills for successful installation.

Epoxy Floor Paints

The regular epoxy paints are designed for residential use, and for light applications. These paints are never intended for commercial purpose. They are manufactured with a long pot life for easier application.

Epoxy floor paint is a two component paint which comes with a resin and hardener. Prior to paint application, the resin will be mixed together with the hardener. It is however important that the right mix ratio is used to get the best result. The mixture stirs up a chemical reaction which creates an exothermic curing process.

Epoxy painted floors are highly resistant to harsh chemicals and abrasion. It keeps the floor protected, shiny and beautiful. It is also resistant to crack, fracture or spilt. High impact resistant rate keeps the floor protected, even if any heavy equipment or item falls over the surface.

Epoxy Floor Coating

As mentioned earlier, epoxy is a two component product. It is made up of a resin and a hardener. After the mixture, you should start the application process immediately before it hardens. Do you have a preferred epoxy coating color? You can always tint the epoxy to give you the exact paint color you are looking for. If it’s not tinted, all you’ll have is nothing more than a clear epoxy coating.

The durability and strength of epoxy floor coating is determined by the quality and volume of the components that makes up an epoxy. The solids content of the epoxy are usually measured in percentages.

For instance, an epoxy coating with 100% solids has approximately 10 mils of both wet film thickness and dry film thickness. At 50%, the epoxy has a wet film thickness of 6 mils and once it cures, the dry film thickness reduces to 3 mils.

An epoxy coating product with 100% coating requires skill and proficiency during application. It is mostly used by professionals because of the limited application time. An epoxy with a lesser solids content are easier to use.

Epoxy coated floors are beautiful and long lasting. More so, it requires little to no maintenance to retain its shiny looks. Due to the mix ratio and the volume of solids content during epoxy application, it is in your best interest to hire a professional who offer epoxy coating services to assist you. These experts have all it takes to restore the aesthetic looks of your floor.

Give your floor the protection it needs with quality epoxy coating services. It is durable, affordable and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.
