What is inside Knutsford Heritage Centre The Heritage Centre lies at the centre of Knutsford Town off King Street. Reconstructed in the 17th century using Timber frames, the centre has three galleries in two buildings. The building has a lot of cultural artefacts. Knutsford Heritage Centre has a rich history and also serves as the abode of Knutsford Millennium Tapestry. This tapestry, created by more than 3,000 local Knutsford residents, is a celebratory artefact for celebrating the town during the millennium year. It is 13 metres long and set in three panels.

The building did not exist before now. It was simply a reconstruction of an existing building called Musgrave’s Yard. The site is also known for its ironmonger history, Brazier, anvil, and forge. These structures are well preserved for visitors to see. After years of abandonment, The Groundwork trust invested £100,000 to renovate the area in 1988. And today, it is known as the Knutsford Heritage Centre. An independent Charity Knutsford Heritage Centre, or KNC as it is commonly called, is an independent charity that continues to grow with the sole focus of maintaining the riches and heritage of the town and all its cultural wealth. By so doing, visitors get to learn and enjoy the property held as a public trust.
Visitors do not pay a fee for admission but can make donations towards maintaining the Centre. Opening Times The Centre welcomes visitors all through the year, though it closed temporarily during the height of the Covid-19 lockdown.
During the summer between April to September, it is closed on Mondays but open to visitors from Tuesday till Saturday between 11 am – 4 pm. And on Sundays between 2 pm – 5 pm. During the winter months of October – March the Centre is closed on Sundays and Mondays. It opens from Tuesday till Saturday every week between 11 am – 4 pm.
